WHAT COULD YOU INVENT TO MAKE JARROW’S PLAY PARKS EVEN BETTER?
On Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September, we ran drop-in invention workshops where children, families and visitors dreamed up new ideas for the places where people play, relax, exercise, meet and spend time outdoors.
We teamed up with Jarrow Forward, the partnership helping to shape Jarrow’s future, as it spoke to local people about how the town’s play parks could be improved. Our challenge brought some extra imagination to that conversation.
We asked people to think about how Jarrow’s play parks could be greener, more exciting, more inclusive and more sustainable — and how they might help people get active, feel calm, make friends, enjoy nature or simply have much more fun.
Ideas explored everything from recycled and sustainable materials, wildlife and accessibility to health, wellbeing, community and places to find a little peace and quiet.
As always, ideas could be sensible, ingenious, wildly ambitious or completely bonkers!
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at Jarrow Hall and shared their vision for the play parks of the future.
